You can use the Route Message on Error functionality available in BTS2006.

If a message fails in the pipeline, the message is not suspended but published into the message box. It un-promotes? all the current promoted properties and  set a series of ErrorMessage promoted properties.
You can use a send port to subscribe to these messages and write them to another directory, alert someone, return to sender, etc, etc

in reply to: Mapping Invoice Schema to Product lines Schema #16761

    Hello,

Thanks Greg, I really appreciate the tip you gave – it worked.  I had previously tried using the looping functoid but had also connected the invoice header to it and that output twice the number of output records with incorrect fields.

I had also simplified my input file to get the BizTalk running. It actually looks like this:

    Header record

    Invoice A header record

Product 1 for Invoice A record

Serial Number record for Product 1

Product 2 for Invoice A record

    Invoice B header record

Product 1 for Invoice B record

I.e. Each product record may be followed by a Serial number record. There is also a line item number field on both the Product and Serial Number record to match the two records. All records have a tag identifier.

In the BizTalk map, when I connect the serial# field to the appropriate field in the output record it uses the data from the first Serial number record for all other products in the same invoice. I also tried connecting the Serial Number record to the looping functoid but that produced incorrect result.

How do I show the Product and Serial Number relationship in the mapping?

If the Product quantity is greater than 1 then I would like also like to produce n output records where Product quantity = n (similar to a for each loop). Can this be achieved in BizTalk mapping?

As my questions indicate I’m very new at BizTalk!  Are there tutorial/samples available?

    Cheers

I think I'm a little dizzy today. I went to Martijn blog and have got all my answers there. It explains that I need to change the Class to Decode and then put a flat file disassembler. Thanks for your efforts. I'll give that a go.

    Cheers

    Rob

    Hi Greg,

the Unzip Component will only be placed the the Disassemble stage. If I try and place it in the Decode it wont let me. Do i need to do something with my receive pipeline to allow the Custom Component to be placed in the Decode stage. I have the component assembly in the right directory and had no problem adding to the tool box in VS2005.

     Thanks and regards

     Rob

You need to place the component assembly in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006\Pipeline Components directory.

Create a receive pipeline, add your custom compnent to the tool box in VS2005 and then drag the component into the Decode stage of the pipeline

The flat file schema wizard allows you to select the codepage (encoding) of the source/target schema. If you don't find the exact one you expect, there are ways around it, fortunately. First, consider how the flat file disassembler recognizes the encoding of an incoming flat file:

     http://www.winterdom.com/weblog/2005/09/08/SelectingTheEncodingUsedWhenParsingFlatFiles.aspx

Once you know that, it's easy to see how to tell it to use a given encoding to interpret an incoming file. If the usual spots don't list the encoding you want, chances are you might be able to use my FixEncoding pipeline component in the decoding stage of your receive pipeline to select a different encoding.

Finally, you need to understand how the FlatFile Assembler finds out the encoding to write the flat file into, for that, check here:

    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms964120.aspx

    Hope this helps!

in reply to: Newbie – Conversion of character Format – #16755

I think you need to do this conversion inside a pipeline.

Tomas talks about this a lot.  Check out http://www.winterdom.com.  He has some samples on the site he posts in a blog post a while ago.

in reply to: source file name in the body of an email #16754

Oh, the solution is a little harder.  You’ll have to do what I described inside a custom pipeline and set the email body inside the pipeline.

It would be easier to do inside an Orchestration and that would be the right place for this type of logic, in my opinion.

in reply to: BizTalk Run time error #16753

Almost sounds like this could be an SSO problem?  Did the user running the host get removed from the SSO group?  Not sure they are in a SSO group now that I think of it… in any case, did anyone mess with SQL Permission Settings on the tables?

That should work.  Check to make sure you haven’t made any changes to the schema after is was auto generated by the wizard (is was auto generated right?).  Then, ensure your schema is deployed and host is restarted.  Also, make sure your connection string is correct.

If all else fails, I’d try regenerating the schema again.

in reply to: Map Loop Question #16751

try logical string and value mapping functoid combination

in reply to: BizTalk Run time error #16749

i have full permisions on that folder

in reply to: source file name in the body of an email #16748

    Thanks for your reply.

I am not using any orchestration in this case, just using messaging (Receive Port -> Map -> Send Port) only. I  need to use %SourceFileName% (or equivalent) in email body property of sendport of type SMTP.

    Thanks.
