Hello, I’m new to BizTalk. I’m implementing the EDI scenario available in the below URL:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727695(v=BTS.10).aspx
Here is a summary of the instructions in that page:
1. Create a BizTalk Project (I created 1 in Visual Studio 2008)
2. Add XSD schema for the EDI document to the project
3. Build & Deploy the project
4. In the BizTalk server administration tool, create ports, parties and their associations.
To do step 4, I have to see the VS 2008 project in Administration Console.
My Step 3 is successful. I get a message in VS 2008 that the deployment is successful. But, the project is not listed under “Applications” in the BizTalk administration console. Am I missing something?
When would a deployed application be visible in BizTalk administration console? Please advise.
Thanks for your help!

Hi,
In your Biztalk project, in the project settings, what settings do you have configured for deployment? There should be a targeted server, Biztalk management database and your targeted application there. You should also add a reference to the BizTalk EDI Application in your targeted application in the BizTalk administration console, as specified in that MSDN EDI walkthrough article.
Daniel.

Daniel, thank you for your response. Now, I understand how things work. You are right about the project settings. I had not provided the “Application Name” into which the project had to be deployed. This resulted in the project being deployed in the default “BizTalk Application 1”. I deleted the project from “Resources” under “BizTalk Application 1”; updated the project setting with the appropriate “Application Name”. I deployed it successfully. I see that the “Resources” under my BizTalk application in the Administration console shows my project dll.
Thanks again for your help![Y]

Thanks for taking the time to document this. That helped me solve my missing application mystery, too.
