        We're having performance problems with our application running under BizTalk 2006.
        Couple of thing that we can't understand is that for each message 8 new
        records enters the spool. Why is that? it used to be 1 per msg.
        Another thing is that we have a server with 40 constant messages in the
        spool that we cant get rid of. no active or suspended orchestrations.

            See if you SQL Server Agent up and running. We had same problem which caused the performance issues. Since the SQL Server Agent was not running, none of the BizTalk CleanUp jobs are running. Once I started the SQL Server Agent, it cleared all the messages from spool and that resolved the performance problem.
