Hi Richard,
You’ll have to be more specific about the problem you are getting when trying to open the ODX file in VS: have you checked the Event Viewer to see if there are any Application errors? This could be an installation issue with Visual Studio or a corrupt ODX file…

The ODX file is fine – I have opened the orchestration on another machine and it opens fine – no problems
The event viewer shows absolutely nothing in the application section and nothing in any of the other ones
I have resinstalled the Biztalk elements of VS to check that everything is OK but to no avail.
It has been suggested elsewhere that it could be to do with the resolution of the screen and the color depth which I have tried turning down to 16 bit and that makes no difference.
Visual Studio works fine so I am completely at a loss for this other than to say it is annoying beyond belief

It could have something to do with your .NET Framework 2.0 installation…
Give it a shot and hopefully this fixes your problem…

Installed lastest service pack for .NET 2.0 and it still does the same
One articel I read suggested a more powerful Video card but not sure how we stand with that on these leased machines

Thanks for the pointer – tried it and nada it failed again.
This is very frustrating as about 10 days ago I had two projects open and was comparing the orchestrations when checking something and now it is playing silly devils
It is really weird that there is just no error messages at all

Hi Rick,
I am wondering what changed on that machine in that timeframe to cause the IDE to crash when trying to open that particular orchestration. Is it happening for other orchestration files too?
I know this is time-consuming, but maybe, try to uninstall BizTalk and Visual Studio, and then re-install Visual Studio and BizTalk on the problematic machine, and see if this fixes the issue.

One thing I have been doing with some spare time was go through the services and stuff that is running on the machine and shut down some of the crap that is running in the background.
Once I did this I managed to get the thing open again.
The one thing I have installed since I last worked on it is Office 2007
Anyway main thing is it opens and I can deal with it – thanks for all your help
