      Hello Everyone,

I am a 3rd year I.T. student and I am now beginning my final project for the course. I choose to make an integrated system for a small catering company, I choose this because I worked briefly on a similar project duing my work placement last year. The company I worked with were kind enough to supply me with data to test the system with (csv, edi files) and the software needed but that is about it.

My problem is that now the guy I worked with in the company is far too busy to answer any of my questions and my supervisory teacher at the college doesn’t know anything about Biztalk. So in otherwords I am left to figure all this out alone and I was hoping that maybe some of you could just start me off in the right direction because to be honest I am in a bit of a mess and not sure at all what I am supposed to be doing, or at least how to begin.

I was told that the aim for the project was to convert the supplier Flat-Files to an internal XML-Schema. Along with this I was hoping to also set up an orchestration to do an automatic ordering process where the caterers send an automatic query and the suppliers respond with their offer, I found this on one of the examples on the MS website. I thought I could simulate this with a couple of folders etc.?!

      My first questions:
Can I complete this project on my laptop(30 Gb) with Windows Server 2003 Enterprise edition(trial version), sql server 2000 Developer edition, Visual Studio.net 2003 and Biztalk server 2004?

Is there things I must do in order for this to work? I have never worked with windows server 2003, I don’t really understand the importance of active directory information, can this all be done under the adminstrators account.

well for now that is my questions, I really hope someone can explain some of this to me, or suggest the best reading materials to guide me. Also I do have a tutorial cd from Neal Walters which seems very good, my problem is just getting it started.

      Thanks in advance,

Yes, your software configuration should work – BUT, if you don’t need the Sharepoint features, you can just run in Windows XP Pro. You can install most everthing under one account (I suggest creating BiztalkAdmin and maybe also an SSOAdmin). Unless they are grading you on how you implement security – then you need to get more fancy.

      Oh thanks Neal for responding!

Well I don’t really know if I need the sharepoint features but I was told that they used windows server 2003 so I thought I would stick with it. My problem now is that I have installed w.s.2003 and then sql server 2000 developer but it won’t configure the biztalk server. I get an error logged :

[color=darkred:232e479467]2006-07-18 19:36:12.80 spid3 Warning: override, autoexec procedures skipped.
2006-07-18 19:36:30.58 spid3 SQL Server is terminating due to ‘stop’ request from Service Control Manager.[/color:232e479467]

any idea how I fix this? I have already installed the analysis component and the sp3a for both.

p.s. what would I need SSOAdmin for?

of course I mean it won’t configure sql server now, not biztalk! 😕

[quote:425b265e04=\”nwalters\”] So you will build a schema then start mapping (there is an example of a flat file schema on my videos). Yes, your example sounds similar (maybe the Bank/Loan Broker scenario?). Yes, you can do it all with flat file folders. Then later, if you want to be fancy you get build an InfoPath form.

          Hi,

I am still having loads of troubles with the windows server 2003 installation. I was wondering would I be able to accomplish what you suggested above on the windows XP platform? Do I need BAS for building an InfoPath form?

I don’t know why you are getting this problem. Where do you see these errors, in the Event Log, or the Biztalk install Log?

              [quote:c78cf67f8f]SSOADMIN userid? [/quote:c78cf67f8f]
Security can be very granular or very broad. I would suggest at minimum you have one separate userid for SSO on the install.

InfoPath works fine with flat files.
