Could someone please help me out here, I have looked all over the
internet. I want to install the Windows SharePoint Services Adapter
but I am kind of lost. In the MSDN documentation it says:“This Web service must be installed on the server where Windows SharePoint Services is installed” – I understood this so that I needed to install the WSS on to the BizTalk machine.
Now I
have installed the WSS on to our BizTalk development machine but when I
try to configure our new WSS adapter I can’t choose the default:
Windows SharePoint Services web site. So I started google’ing again
and I have read quite a few times that BizTalk Server needs to be installed on
the SharePoint Server. Surely I am misunderstanding something here
right ? Could someone please explain to me in short what needs to be installed and where so that I can start talking to our SharePoint server ?Right now we have this setup:
Machine A: BizTalk Server, WSS, MS-SQL, IIS
Machine B: MOSS 2007, IIS
We need to read and write to different sites on the MOSS server using the BizTalk machine.

To my knowledge, BTS 2006 R2 needs WSS 2.0 so that the configuration later can be done more smoothly. After which, you need to extend a virtual server in the Sharepoint site. With that, then your BTS can be installed and configured….
As for your MOSS, you need to install the BizTalk Window Sharepoint Service Adapter to your MOSS server also. If not, your WSS adapter will not be able to work. To install, you need to run the BizTalk installer CD but when you reach the Feature choosing part, you choose only Additional Component->Window Sharepoint Service Adapter and uncheck everything else.

Thank you eugeneang,
This was the key: As for your MOSS, you need to install the BizTalk Window Sharepoint
Service Adapter to your MOSS server also. If not, your WSS adapter will
not be able to work. I had to convice my system admin that this was the case then I got this to work.Best Regards,
