I m using windows XP professional with service pack 2(i have done all gpedit/regedit) patch work here
along with sqlxml/.net/MDAC/SQL server patch work ;actually i m running SQL with patch 4 but with 3 also i used to get the same issues )I m not connected to domain , I login to local admin account and SQL server is also local
I do delete the SSO/other DBs and accounts/groups manually before retyring something else but result is same ,
what object it is not expecting in its place to be created and why cant biztalk config setup reuses existing objects
i cant figure out as the LOG doesnt give much more detailed analysiswhy is this product released like this , i cant understand , though i agrre that it (Biztalk 2004) has some path breaking unifications (comm servc, portal, sso ,web service ,…) which fools like me are trying to explore
thanks again for comforting insights into production support , some nightmare-maker this Biztalk support right!

You might want to make sure you run configframework.exe /u and delete all the biztalk and sso db’s before you run the wizard again. Are you using a remote SQL Server on a Domain? Or is this a single server install? What OS?
If it makes you feel any better, 2 of the past 3 times I have done production installations of Biztalk we had to call Production Support. One call took 2 days!
Keep your head up! Life gets easier in Biztalk 2006.

I hear you. About 6 months ago I had an XP SP2 install and it just never worked. I rolled it back to SP1 and still didn’t work. I finally re imaged the laptop with SP2 and it worked perfect the first time. I’m sure we could all go on and on with install horror stories
I just don’t get it. It seems like they have a random error generator.
In any case, did you try adding Full Control to Everyone on the C:\\Windows\\Temp folder?
Otherwise, the Beta of Biztalk 2006 is available. It’s a much better installation process but you need VS 2005.
