Custome pipeline working w/pipeline.exe and VS2005 debug but not from within BizTalk?

Hi All,

Have built a custom receive pipeline and tested it successfully by calling pipeline.exe with appropriate parameters and also by following this post (link is for 2004, but works well for 2006). Unfortunately, once I deploy this pipeline and try to test with a simple receive/send port pair (send port has filter for anything received on receive port, receive port has pipeline set), it is failing as follows:

Error Code: 0xc0c01657 (Receive Pipeline Error)

Error Description:

There was a failure executing the receive pipeline: “(my pipeline), Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7078ab4fc60d1e6b” Source: “Pipeline ” Receive Port: “ReceiveBloombergBO” URI: “C:\BizTalk\Bloomberg\In\*.enc” Reason: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I’ve tried attaching a debugger to the BizTalk service process, setting breakpoints in the overriden Read method, and witnessing my code run successfully. Read returns zero when there is no more data to be read. I’ve also tried overriding Close in the stream in case BizTalk calls this when its done reading, but this doesn’t seem to get called.

Note that after completing the custom assembly, VS displays:

 “A first chance exception of type ‘System.NullReferenceException’ occured in (my dll)”.
