I am trying to install Biztalk server 2006 on my laptop ( XP). I have already installed Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2005, SQL server 2005 SP2. I also have .Net framework both 2.0 and 3.0 on my laptop.
When I run the biztalk install, I do not get any errors, however none of the SQL server databases are created ( SSO database, BAM related dataases etc). Because of this I am unable add my laptop to the SSO admin console and hence unable to configure Biztalk after install.
I tried installing SQL server first with “local system” option, when that did not work tried it as a domain account. In both cases Biztalk install behaves in teh same manner.
I have tried Biztalk server 2006 and Biztalk server 2006 R2 – both with same results. Seems like I have something on my laptop that is interfering with Biztalk install’s ability to create the necessary databases.
Any thoughts or words of advice ?
Thx in advance

Correct me if I understood your problem. You are saying that after you install BTS, you dont see the databases. Thats right, you need to run the “BisTalk Server Configuration” tool after installation.
Do you mean that the databases are not getting created even after running the configuration wizard. If so check the event log for errors.

After I installed the Biztalk server, I did run “Biztalk server configuration”. The configuration failed indicating an Enterprise SSO error. I checked out the SSO administrator and tried to add my machine, I was unable to change the status of my server to active in the SSO administrator. On the status it showed no SSO database and the status of my machine was represented as “Question mark”. I tried to create the SSO database from within the SSO administrator, this was also not successful. This was the reason I thought the SQL server could be an issue.
So essentially SQL server install was successful, Biztalk server install was successful but Biztalk configuration was not. Based upon the knowledge base on errors the problem seemd to be with the SSO, but since I cannot add my machine in the SSO console, I am at an impasse as how to proceed.
