I am getting the following error when I am trying to start my BizTalk server:

      Event Type: Error
      Event Source: BizTalk Server
      Event Category: Document Processing
      Event ID: 324
      Date: 1/20/2006
      Time: 7:00:34 PM
      User: N/A
      Computer: UGTDENBIZ
      Description:
An error occurred in BizTalk Server.

      Details:
      ——————————
[0x1304] The installed edition of Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002 does not support multiple servers in a single group. Please reconfigure your group to have only one server and restart the service. Or, you can upgrade to another edition of BizTalk Server that allows more than one server in a group.

[0x0114] The service failed to start. Verify that this server is enlisted in a BizTalk Server group.

This server has been working in production for several years and stopped working when I tried to install BizTalk 2002 developer on another server. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It would appear that you have installed Biztalk developer using the same Biztalk Server group as production i.e. both Biztalk servers are sharing the same database.
      You have two choices.

      1. Upgrade production to the Enterprise version
      2. Remove the Developer server from the Biztalk Group.

The best option would be 2. You do not want your development server connected to your production database.

You will need to reinstall the development server using a different SQL Server.

I had the same problem, which depends on the Installation of ServicePack 1 for BizTalk server 2002. If you don't have a XLANG-Database, the SP1 is not able to complete without an error, but the logfile won't help you. You must install the Orchestration in the Setup of BizTalk server, so you have a XLANG-Database, so SP1 can be installed without any errors and the BizTalk server is running fine after the installation of SP1.

I hope my answer will help anybody, please let me know 😉
