I’ve been running BizTalk R2 on this machine for several months.   I tried to run a “hotfix” for the DTD to XSD schema generator, and it crashed with the following message; “Error 5008. Registration of the BizTalk WMI provider failed.  Return Code 1.  Then when I tried to access my local “BizTalk Group”, it couldn’t find the BizTalk MgmtDB.  At that point, I decided to “repair” BizTalk”, and it failed with the message above.  I deleted BizTalk, and downloaded the latest installation from MSDN, and it still fails with the same message; “”Error 5008. Registration of the BizTalk WMI provider failed.  Return Code 1.”

There’s very little posted about this.  Do you have any suggestions.

Finally found a link which some kind soul posted that solves this problem.  Apparently, the BizTalk installer coples the WMI setup files (the MOF and MFL files) to one directory, then looks for them in another.  The fix is to create the directory beforehand, and populate it with the correct files, so they will be there at the proper time.  Here’s the link…http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.biztalk.setup/browse_thread/thread/14f10a26ac842135
