In the process of testing a BizTalk 2006 installation. We have a two server environment, a SQL 2005 Server and a BizTalk server. Configuring BAM requires SQL Integration Services on the BizTalk Server and BAM alerts requires SQL Notification services on the BizTalk server. With this configuration we would need to purchase an additional SQL Server license.

Is it possible to configure BAM on the SQL Server so that we don't have to purchase an additional license? Are there other options to look at so that we don't have to purchase an additional license?

I’m not very experienced with BAM.  But I think it’s the BAM portal the needs SQL Notification Servers.  What if you put the BAM portal on the SQL Server?

      Just a thought.
