Enterprise integration is rapidly evolving, and we are pleased to announce the general availability of BizTalk Server 2016 Feature Pack 1. This release extends functionality in key areas such as Deployment, Analytics, and Runtime.
BizTalk Server 2016 Feature Pack 1 is available for Software Assurance customers running the BizTalk Server 2016 Developer and Enterprise editions or are running BizTalk Server in Azure under an Enterprise Agreement. Feature Pack 1 is production ready and provides only non-breaking features.

- Deploy with VSTS – Enable Continuous Integration to automatically deploy and update applications using Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS)
- New management APIs – Manage your environment remotely using the new REST APIs with full Swagger support
Analytics:
- Application Insights – Tap into the power of Azure for tracking valuable application performance and to better understand your workflow
- Leverage operational data – View operational data from anywhere and with any device using Power BI
Runtime:
- Support for Always Encrypted – Use the WCF-SQL adapter to connect to SQL Server secure Always Encrypted columns
- Advanced Scheduling – Set up advanced schedules using the new capabilities with Feature Pack 1
Feature Pack 1 builds on the investments we made to release BizTalk Server 2016 last December.

BizTalk Server 2016 was our tenth release of the product bundled with a ton of new functionality
One of the things we added was enhanced support for Microsoft to collect usage data from the BizTalk environment. You can enable telemetry collection during the installation of BizTalk Server 2016 , although the default option is to opt-out from sending this data to Microsoft.
Microsoft use the usage data to help us improve our products and services, including the focuse of the actual usage to get BizTalk in the right direction. Read our privacy statement to learn more.
The data gathered includes overall information and counts of the different artifacts. Data is sent to Microsoft once a day or when you restart one of your host instances.
There are two keys in the registry that store this information regarding your telemetry data gathering and submission to Microsoft.

With the recent release of BizTalk Server 2016 we are happy to announce that the developer image of BizTalk Server 2016 is licensed for free to use in your test and development scenarios. BizTalk Server 2016 is Microsoft’s latest release of the new hybrid integration software.
With BizTalk Server 2016, customers can automate mission critical business processes, leverage support for latest first party platforms and gain newer capabilities within the BizTalk Administration console. With this release, customers also have the flexibility to adopt a hybrid approach by choosing to connect to SaaS applications through Azure Logic Apps, or running BizTalk Server on Azure leveraging full support in production environments.
Azure Logic Apps is another core part of Microsoft’s Hybrid Integration Platform, that allows you to rapidly connect to numerous SaaS and enterprise applications, enable business to business communication and leverage the power of other Azure services like Functions, Cognitive Services, Machine Learning and many more. BizTalk Server 2016 is the first version to take full advantage of this hybrid integration story, with an out of the box adapter to connect directly to Azure Logic Apps. After our recent announcement of BizTalk Server 2016 going GA (General availability), it is time to start thinking about our next major release in terms of feature improvements and new capabilities for BizTalk Server.
Microsoft has a strong responsibility to create first-class integration solutions for our customers, with solutions working both on premise and in the cloud. Bridging the gap between these products has been very important and we believe that with the current growth of the hybrid story this is becoming even more important.
It’s too early to talk about specific dates, but it isn’t too early to identify improvements and capabilities you would like the Product Group to consider. We are working on setting up a page where you can come in and help us scope out the next version of BizTalk Server, we will update you on this when that platform is available.

Today, we have the pleasure of announcing the general availability (GA) of BizTalk Server 2016 – our tenth release. You can read the full announcement on the Microsoft Hybrid Blog here.
Alongside this momentous occasion we are also GA’ing today the BizTalk Server 2016 Logic Apps adapter – see here. This new adapter enables you to call Logic Apps from BizTalk Server 2016 giving you easy access from BizTalk applications to our vast array of cloud connectors in Azure truly enabling the hybrid cloud. And that’s not all! We’re also shipping today the GA of our new BizTalk Server 2016 updated System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) management pack as well – get that here.
This new management pack includes the following enhancements:
– Support for both SCOM 2016 and SCOM 2012 R2
– Discover multiple version of Biztalk server
– Fixed the issue with the discovery of the installed BizTalk Server version
– Show biztalk .net performance counter for localized language

This cumulative update package for Microsoft BizTalk Server 2013 R2 is available to download.
We recommend that you test hotfixes before you deploy them in a production environment. Because the builds are cumulative, each new update release contains all the hotfixes and all the security updates that were included in the previous BizTalk Server 2013 R2 update release. We recommend that you consider applying the most recent BizTalk Server 2013 R2 update release.. You may experience performance issues if you run mismatched versions.

We have launched the BizTalk Server 2016 Developer image on MSDN. You can download this by going into our MSDN subscriber download site.
BizTalk Server 2016 Developer is a free licensed product that can be used in testing. It does not require an MSDN subscription, however only MSDN Subscribers will be able to access and download the file.

SYST command is no longer required. When you configure the FTP adapter on a receive location or send port, there is a property called FTP Server Type. Using this property, you choose the FTP server you want; which determines if SYST is required.
As a result of this change, there are more “supported” FTP servers.

SFTP adapter is re-engineered to use WinSCP to connect to SFTP; which allows support for more SFTP servers. Client-side logging and additional encryption ciphers are also new.

When importing a binding a file, you can choose to import (or not import) the tracking properties enabled on your orchestrations, send ports, and so on. This is a global setting (set at the Group level) so you can set this feature in your different environments. We are happy to announce that BizTalk Server 2016 is available on the MSDN Subscriber download site. We currently have the following versions available:

The BizTalk Server 2016 Developer edition will be coming soon.
We also have the BizTalk Server 2016 Enterprise edition available in Azure through the classic portal (this will be coming to the new portal soon).
