      Hi All,

We on a Windows 2003 server machine,  firstly installed the VS 2005 with SQL Express and then installed the Biztalk 2006 Evaluation edition. Then after a few days we upgraded the Evaluation version to the Enterprise version, and I must say that was a breeze, with the installer doing all the work by itself.

Now since we cant develop BAM activities on SQL Express we need to upgrade it to Sql Enterprise version, but we want to keep all the data that we've put so far on to the Express edition. Please guide me how to upgrade it in a way that all the biztalk deployments and databases on sql express remain intact.

I noticed once I ran the enterprise edition installer of sql server that it asks for keeping the SQL Express instance, if we choose that would that do the job for us?

      Regards,

      Sajid.

I’d strongly suggest unconfiguring BizTalk, removing the SQL Express (if desired), and configuring BizTalk fresh.

You probably can move the databases and updated BizTalk to work but it wouldn’t be worth the time / problems you will have.

Note that you’ll have to redeploy all your BizTalk code.
