      Hello:

Anybody knows if it’s supported to install BTS2006 on Virtual PC 2004 (XP SP2)?

      Thanks

      Hi,

I’ve used Virtual PC for a lot og my BizTalk installs (2004, and 2006), and it works a treat. A few tips:

Go for min 512 meg ram.
Maintain your DBs, and delete the backup files (if you can) to keep the image size down.
Watch out for fragmentation as you work with the image for a while.

Sometimes the performance suffers a bit, it’s not a good way to work if you like to stress test things a log.

One other great feature is the \”Undo Disks\” that allow you to install you pre-reqs, then enable undo disks, then go for the BizTalk install. If it goes bad, you can abandon all the changes.

      /Alan

You’ll have a problem with visual studio .NET 2005 if VPC is using an ISO image of the install DVD.

Either burn the disc and install from that or mount the ISO on the host and share the drive to VPC.

Otherwise it hits some text file that it can’t read, due to a VPC bug.

          Hello All

          I would like to install BT2006 Beta2 on VPC2004 with W2003 server
Could I install it on the same machine ?

Do you know where I can find step by step Installation guide because the MS installation guide is not very clear.

I tried and got it successful on Vmware machine. VMware is something similar to Virtual PC. Let me know of any issues.
            I followed like this…..

Set up a VMware machine with base OS as win2003 server enterprise edition. Installed SqlServer 2005 July CTP.
Installed Windows sharepoint services with Sp2.
            Installed Visual Studio 2005 Beta2.

I did not face any problem while doing so in this sequence……
Let me know if you face any issues…

            Regards

                  Denis,
VMWare is not freeware but you can obtain a evaluation copy of vmware workstation5.0 for 30days free trial.

That should not be a problem with Biztalk 2006 Beta 1. I have not actually tried it but I have not heard of anything having problems with it.

I run mine on a Windows 2003 VPC through.

                      VMWare does cost.

You should be able to run on Microsoft’s VPC. I have not had any problems.

If you go to a Launch Event you will get a VPC with BizTalk 2006 all preloaded with VS 2005 and SQL.
