      Hello,

I’m new to BizTalk and have a couple of questions.

      1. Does BizTalk offer content-based or rule-based routing?. Ie. if PO # = 123, then execute another orchestration or kick off an email?

      2. Will BizTalk integrate directly with any Vans? IE. Dial out and poll the VAN and pull in mailbox data.

      3. How easy is the Trading Partner setup? Is there a Wizard that will import the TP information from the EDI Document?

      4. Logging capabilities? How granular?

I appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance.

      John

        Hi,

Do we have a logging feature provided with BizTalk?

          1. Yes. Biztalk uses values in the Message context to determine routing. At various points in the process you can promote data from the actual message into the message context.

          2. Biztalk has no preconfigured or packaged VAN connection mechanisms. But the variety of adapters, both protocol and application are standard. There are also third party adapters available and worst case you can write a custom adapter

          3. Trading Partner management is ok. There is a Business Activity Services web site provided that allows managing partner info. There is no wizard for importing TP information, although I would imagine this could be created.

Depends what you mean by logging.
There is a comprehensive tracking database that will save every event and message if you wish. You can configure what is tracked and what is not.

and also, every anomaly, error is logged to Application Eventlog in control panel
