      Hi,

I was wondering if anybody knows what the best practice is for installing BizTalk Server 2006.

I heard in the past that it is not a good idea to install BizTalk and SQL Server on the same machine, but most of the Microsoft installation guides document this way. The document on multi-server environments shows how to install but only for a clustered environment. I’m thinking of installing BTS 2006 on one machine and SQL Server 2005 on another.

Does anybody have any thoughts on this?

      Kind regards,

      C

Basically, it’s totally depends upon your need.

Can you please tell us more about your need (number application,
type of solution and average traffic etc.)

In terms of the number of transactions etc, a single server build would fit my needs. However I am reluctant to do this as I have heard that this is not the best way to do an installation as if the single server fails, your database is lost too.

          Hi,

Low-volume system as in your case can be implemented with on BizTalk Server machine and one SQL server machine.

On the other hand High-volume solution can use eight or more machines depending on the type and volume of processing required
