        Hi Gurus,

        I just need to clear a small doubt. When using Biztalk is it necessary that atleast one of the application needs to be Microsoft based i.e a Microsoft application.

          Hi Malita,

          No, one of the systems does not need to be a Microsoft system – you can use BizTalk to integrate solely with non-Microsoft systems if you wish.

          Are you thinking of any system in particular, or was this a generic question?

              Hi Nick,

              Thanks for the reply.

              Let me explain my exact scenario:

              We have an SAP ECC Server and a third-party application connected via biztalk. Now we need to connect SAP ECC system with SAP Enterprise Portal via a SAP PI System.

              I need to know what would be the disadvantages of using 2 middlewares as mentioned above.

              Also any documents you have to support would be appreciated.

                  PI and BizTalk are for the most part competing platforms.  If the strategic direction in your company is SAP PI, what incentive is there to use BizTalk?
