I’m sorry not being able give you a real answer, but I cannot imagine you need two licenses.
You do not actually install the adapter on the sharepoint server, just a web service that the adapter communicate with. See What Is the Windows SharePoint Services Adapter?
On Pricing and licensing it says nothing about another license.
