Hello,
I have BAM installed on multi server windows 2003 server environment with active/passive set up. On the first node, the BAM portal is working great. When I fail it over to the other node, I am getting unexpected results. I went through the instructions with these two links to configure BAM portal on second node…

Everything is working fine except when I click on the Alert Management in any of my views I get the following error:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Bam Web Service
Event Category: None
Event ID: 12009
Date: 3/15/2010
Time: 9:54:28 AM
User: N/A
Computer: node2
Description:

at Microsoft.BizTalk.Bam.WebServices.Management.BamManagementService.GetAlertsSummary(String viewName)A couple of notes: this is Windows 2003 64 bit. My registry keys did not match the above links. It had Wow6432Node the path.
- Did not exist: “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\BizTalk Server\3.0\BAM\WebServices
Existed: “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\BizTalk Server\3.0\BAM\WebServices - Step 11: on the Microsoft link – could not get this to work – I dont think aspnet_setreg works for asp.net 2.0?
- I set permissions using subinacls tool for the app pool user and network security to the registry.
Seems like this is only one permission error – I’m not sure why all of the Portal works (Bam Query, Aggregates) and not Alert. Is there special permissions to NS alert service?
Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I think I figured out the permissions error. I had to grant the Web Service account ‘Traverse Folder / Execute File”, “List Folder / Read Data”, “Read Attributes”, “Read Extended Attributes”, “Read Permissions” on the installation bin folder of SSNS.
Now I noticed that somehow my NS$BamAlerts service is not running. I am looking into that now. I believe I just need to register the service again using Notification Svs command prompt. Then I should be able to edit the biztalk config file to point to the cluster server name.
