XML Disassembler Missing Data After Split

I have a custom pipeline that uses only the XML Disassembler to split an interchange file into separate messages. All my data elements are populated in each message after the split except one date element.  This particular date element is not defined any differently than any other date element except it is a promoted property in the document schema. Is there any reason for the disassembler to not populate data in the individual messages for elements that are promoted properties in the schema?  Please help!
