Hello Gurus, Can you pls let me know If I am doing anything incorrect or do I need to configure anything more.Pls advice 1) Software installeda. MS SQL Server 2005 Express Editionb. MS Visual Studio 2005 Express Editionc. MS BizTalk Server 2006 Eval Edition 2) MS SQL Server Configuration:Created the Database – BizTalkMgmtDb
3) Opened the BizTalk Server 2006 Administrator.- Connect to Existing BizTalk Server Configuration Db
- Selected the SQL Server Name from the Drop Down
- Nothing is displayed in the Database Name Drop Down list.
- Tried manuallay typing the database name I have created in SQL Serer – BizTalkMgmtDb. An error message is displayed
- TITLE: BizTalk Server 2006 Administration Console
- ——————————
- Error Message
- BizTalk Server 2006 cannot access database BizTalkMgmtDb on SQL Server CRP-RIC2-M80549 due to one of the following reasons:
- 1. Access permissions have been denied to the current user. Either log on as a user that has been granted permissions to SQL and try again, or grant the current user permission to access SQL Server.
- 2. The SQL Server does not exist or an invalid database name has been specified. Check the name entered for the SQL Server and database to make sure they are correct as provided during SQL Server installation.
- 3. The SQL Server exists, but is not currently running. Use the Windows Service Control Manager or SQL Enterprise Manager to start SQL Server, and try again.
- 4. An SQL database file with the same name as the specified database already exists in the Microsoft SQL Server data folder.
- 5. A BizTalk Server configuration database exists but is no compatible with the version of BizTalk Server 2006 currently running.

Hello,
I am having the same problem right now, and I can’t find any help in the forums. Did you manage to find a solution?
Actually everything works fine for a few hours, then Biztalk says it can’t connect to it’s mgmt database. It’s a bit weird because I have no problem at all connecting myself to this database, using SQL Server Management Studio!
Any help would , errrr… help 🙂
Thanks!
Simon

Hi
I’m having the same issue connecting to an existing group from my install on my laptop (XP).
I’ve checked all my dependencies / config / TCIP settings etc. -all this is fine.
I can run my local BizTalk server BUT cannot connect to an existing group on a network server. I have other users in my dept. who can do this and despite comparing settings there is no obvious answer.
I can connect to any of our Biztalk servers from SQL Server Mgmnt console.
Does anybody have any idea what the issue could be or other things i could check to resolve this issue?
Thanks in advance for any response.
cheers
Austin

I think the last issue was due to MSDTC issue . Because you can connect to local database.
Please check this http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa544733.aspx
