I would be surprised if you could do this…if for no other reasons licensing.
DEV edition is “Limited solely to designing, developing, and testing solutions”. I guess the caveat would be that you are running enterprise editions in a test environment(and this actually worked). I got a feeling that when you join the group you will get an invalid version message.
