      Hi guys.

I've encountered a problem trying to install biztalk server 2006. The problem is that choosing install from setup menu causes the installation to fail immediately with the following output in the logs:

This thing happens not only on my computer, but my collegues also get the same error trying to install the BTS. I'm running Win XP Pro Sp2, but i also tried to install it on our server running win2003entSp1with all prerequirements installed, and got the same error, just different in computer name.

Searching the internet on such error had not given any results yet.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?  Would appreciate any your thoughts on this case.

      Thanks in advance.

Quick note, i tried to launch it in compatibility mode with win2000 that's why the os version is different from this Version: 5.1 Build: 2600 Service Pack: 2.0.

the rest of the log stays the same with no compatibility mode.

Here's a good place to start for anyone in this situation.  This is for reference purposes only considering you must have met all the pre-reqs before installing.  BizTalk Server 2006 Installation and Upgrade Guides

      Basic questions to follow…

      1. What version of BTS 2006 are you trying to intall?
      2. On which OS are you installing this?
      3. Is this for development or production?
      4. What version of SQL Server are you using?
      5. Is it local to the box or on a separate server?
      6. Do you have the SQL Client installed?
      7. Latest OS patches from Microsoft Update?
      8. Visual Studio 2005, .NET 2.0 Framework?

I don't want to go to far with a suggestion since I don't really know what's causing this.

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I installed 2006 R2 Beta 2 on a server, and now I'm not able to uninstall it and replace it with the RTM. Also, the RTM wants to upgrade Single Sign On, but it can't uninstall the old version because the installed Biztalk beta depends on it, so I'm completely stuck!

I'm hoping somebody has figured this out and can lend a hand. I saw another blog with a similar error, and the person ended up having to spend 3 hours on the phone with support and uninstalled Biztalk by hand. That will teach me for using the beta on a production server!
