by
Syndicated BizTalk Author
Note: This is not a definitive guide, this is just my understanding based on the research I've done and based on response I received from the Microsoft Azure support centre for some of my queries. If you are planning to use AppFabric Service Bus, there are 3 different charges you need to be aware of AppFabric Service Bus connections (of individual and pack types) AppFabric Access Control transactions Data transfer (in gigabytes) In this article we'll try to address in detail about the AppFabric...

Setting up a remote git repository on your ReadyNAS
Posted

More of a note-to-self, but may be useful to other ReadyNAS users who aren’t quite at home with Linux. As I’m doing a lot of coding with different environments, and I want easy SCM, git is a fine choice. Git runs through IP addresses, so I can access...

Three .NET Best Practices to Keep in Mind
Posted
by
Syndicated BizTalk Author
Practice #1: Catch Exceptions at the Highest Possible Level (Tier) In general, exceptions should be bubbled up to the highest possible level to be caught and processed. For example, in our project, a search goes through the following logical tiers: UI -> Services -> Data/SharePoint/Refinement -> Web Services There are quite a few instances where we’re catching exceptions [...] Blog Post by: Michael Gerety

First look at Azure AppFabric June (2011) CTP
Posted
by
Syndicated BizTalk Author
Recently Microsoft has released another Azure AppFabric CTP. This particular one focuses on Azure “AppFabric Applications” or otherwise known as “Composite Applications”. The goal of Azure AppFabric Applications(as I see it) is to build, deploy and manage multi-tier applications as a single logical entity in Windows Azure. Coming from the BizTalk world I am very familiar with distributed applications. Some of the challenges in developing and maintaining these types of applications...

"Your folder can't be shared" - Windows 7

Syndicated BizTalk Author
Today I was trying to share a folder in Windows 7 in the home group and I was constantly greeted by an error message "Your folder can't be shared". There are no other message or description about the exact reason why its happening. I just ran the troubleshoot problems wizard (on the task bar, right click on the network icon, and click "Troubleshoot problem"), after some diagnosis the wizard gave me the warning the PC is connected to multiple networks, and it gave me the choice...

Editing .ODX Files / Regenerate Orchestration Code
Posted
by
Syndicated BizTalk Author
Everybody with some experience with BizTalk Server knows that sometimes the ODX files get garbled and have to be fixed manually. I’ve had situations where the compilation of an orchestration works fine, but when viewing the orchestration in the visual studio designer, there are shapes with the red icon of error in it. When things like this happen, or you get those strange “Errors exist for one or more children”, what you can do is have BizTalk re-generate the code part of the ODX. To do this, edit...

Warning – Cannot resolve the ‘schemaLocation’ attribute

I always take compiler warnings seriously and at least investigate them before releasing. For each schema multiple occurrences of this warning where reported. This lead to [...] Blog Post by: Randal van Splunteren

Sorting out AppFabric Service bus, Silverlight and Clientaccesspolicy.xml issue -hidden gem in Azure AppFabric SDK CTP 2.0
Posted
by
Syndicated BizTalk Author
By default Silverlight applications are allowed to access resources (services) only from the location from where they originated. From Silverlight 2.0 support was included to access services from a remote server (cross-domain), as long as the remote server allows the Silverlight application to access it. This gave administrators more control on who is accessing the resource, and can impose certain restrictions. The security policy system in the Silverlight runtime requires that a policy file ( clientaccesspolicy...

BizTalk360 - License relaxation for evaluation/trial
Posted
by
Syndicated BizTalk Author
One of the common requests we received recently from customers was to relax the licensing rules for evaluation purposes. The original design didn't allow installing Standard/Enterprise edition on a Microsoft BizTalk Server Developer edition machine. This imposed a serious problem, the customer can only trial the product on a proper test environment. With the release of 1.0.185 version, we modified the rules slightly, so now its possible to install Enterprise/Standard edition on a Microsoft BizTalk...

Azure AppFabric Service bus, Silverlight Integration - End-to-End (walkthrough) - Part 2

Introduction In part 1 we setup the scene by creating a simple Silverlight/WCF application. In that application the Silverlight application is initialized, it made a call to the underlying WCF service operation "GetWelcomeText" and displayed the text on the UI. We used the basicHttpBinding to establish communication between the SL client and WCF service. In this part, we are going to make some modifications to the configuration files, IIS/Windows Server AppFabric settings and make the application...

MQSC options may not be available in Biztalk Administration console

Syndicated BizTalk Author
Recently, we ran into some issues in which the MQSC adapter was not displayed as an option in the BizTalk Administration console, even after the adapter was properly installed on a BizTalk 2009 / Windows 2008 SP1 server. Before outlining the problem and the solution, let’s discuss the MQSC adapter basics first. MQSC Adapter Basics The MQSC adapter is only supported running in 32-bit mode on BizTalk 2006 R2, regardless of the operating system being used. On BizTalk 2009 and 2010, the MQSC adapter...
