Custom web faults with System.ServiceModel.Web 3.x

A former student approached me with a problem related to the Web programming model using WCF in .NET 3.5. In short, he was using a custom IErrorHandler to create a custom fault message, but the client was always receiving a generic error. Even more of a problem was that the custom error was an HTML formatted message, despite having set the response format on the service to JSON. This caused big problems for the AJAX client trying to reason over that response. I knew that WCF REST Starter Kit and...

Op donderdag 5 januari 2012 beginnen we het nieuwe jaar met een herhaling van de sessie van Maurice de Beijer over HTML5. Deze avond wordt gehost door 4dotnet en zal plaats vinden in Utrecht. Back in 2010, I wrote a course for Pluralsight on OData which covers the protocol in general and introduces the viewer to the client and server programming model. This year, Microsoft released updates to the ASP.NET Web API which includes support for OData in the controllers. Since this latest release, I’ve received several questions about the differences between these two toolsets for building services that support OData and some guidance on which to use. This is my attempt to answer...

Excellent keynote today by Scott Guthrie and the Windows Azure team! I don’t know if it’s because I’m seeing it on the other side for the first time or if it’s due to the amazing new capabilities introduced into Windows Azure, but I loved every second of it! Within a few minutes Scott had jumped [...] Blog Post by: Wade

Implementing Storage Abstraction Layer to Support Very Large Messages in Windows Azure Queues

by
Syndicated AppFabric Author
The following blog post is intended to offer a developer-oriented perspective on the implementation of a generics-aware storage layer abstraction for the Windows Azure Queue Service. The problem space addressed by the post is centered on supporting very large messages in Windows Azure queues and overcoming the 8KB limitation that exists today. Simply put, this blog and the associated code will enable you to utilize Windows Azure Queues without having to engage in the message size bookkeeping imposed...
